The City of Charlevoix operates a municipal wastewater treatment system servicing over 5000 users. The municipal plant was first established in 1972 and provides service to the City of Charlevoix, Charlevoix Township, and Marion Township. The department continually strives to exceed Michigan Department of Environmental Quality standards and is continuously monitored by MDEQ. Any questions regarding wastewater treatment should be addressed to the phone number above.
On December 2, 2013 City Council passed the attached Notice of Intent Resolution related to the issuance of bonds through the Michigan Finance Authority State Revolving Fund Program. The resolution is the first step in solidifying financing for the Wastewater Treatment Plant. Click here to download the resolution.
Within 45 days of publishing the notice, the community has the right to request that a referendum be placed on the ballot to approve bonding for the project. At least 10% of registered electors of the City will need to sign a petition placing the issue on the ballot.
