EMPLOYMENT AND RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS

  • All regular full-time employees are required to reside within twenty miles of the nearest boundary of the city. 
  • Applicants must be at least eighteen years old unless otherwise stated in the job description. 
  • All City positions require passing a background check.
  • Seasonal employees who work between the dates of April 13 and October 11 no longer qualify for unemployment benefits.

SEASONAL POSITION POSTINGS

  

The City of Charlevoix is seeking positive, motivated, and outgoing people for our 2017 summer teams!

 

Police Department

Seasonal Police Officers - $14.00/hour. The City of Charlevoix is currently seeking two seasonal Police Officers who will be responsible for maintaining order in an assigned district and protecting life and property. The position will run approximately 12 weeks with a target start date of late May. Must be a graduate of law enforcement school or equivalent, possess a valid driver’s license and be MCOLES certified or certifiable by June 1, 2017.

 

Seasonal Police Officer/Boat Launch Attendant - $14.00/hr. The City of Charlevoix is currently seeking a seasonal Police Officer/Boat Launch Attendant who will be responsible for maintaining order in an assigned district and protecting life and property and for patrolling assigned areas of the boat launch to assist boaters, collect monies, issue tickets, and maintain fish cleaning station. The position will run approximately 12 weeks with a target start date of late May. Must be a graduate of law enforcement school or equivalent, possess a valid driver’s license and be MCOLES certified or certifiable by June 1, 2017.

 

 

Boat Launch Attendant - $12.00/hour. The City of Charlevoix is currently seeking a seasonal Boat Launch Attendant who will be responsible for assisting boaters, collecting monies, issuing tickets, and maintaining the fish cleaning station. The position will run approximately 12 weeks with a target start date of late May.

 

Department of Public Works

Parks/Cemetery Maintenance Crew - Minimum starting pay of $10.00/hour; however this could increase depending upon qualifications. The City of Charlevoix is currently seeking multiple seasonal employees who will be responsible for the overall upkeep of downtown Charlevoix, as well as all city parks, streets and cemeteries.  These seasonal positions will begin mid-April and will end mid-November. Candidates must be 18 years or older and possess a valid driver’s license. 

 

Municipal Airport

Airport Attendant: $10/hr - The City of Charlevoix is seeking a seasonal employee who will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient ramping and fueling of aircraft, operation of mowing and snow removal equipment, general maintenance of airport facility/property, daily counter sales, and providing quality customer service to pilots, patrons, and other Airport customers. Duties involve exertion of physical strength and dexterity, the ability to work in all types of weather conditions, and availability 24 hours a day. This position will have a variable work schedule and the target start day is late April. Applicants must be 18 years old or older. 

 

RECREATION

Mt. McSauba Camp Counselors: Minimum starting pay of $10/hr; however this could increase depending upon qualifications. The City of Charlevoix is seeking seasonal camp counselors for Mt. McSauba Summer Day Camp who will be responsible for supervising groups of children during their participation in day camp activities. Hours 35 to 40 hours a week. Counselors must be 18 years of age. The summer camp will run from Mid-June through Mid-August.                .

 

Skate Park Attendant: Minimum starting pay of $10/hr; however this could increase depending upon qualifications. The City of Charlevoix is seeking seasonal Skate Park Attendants who will be responsible for the daily operation and condition of the Skate Park and for the safety of the skaters during park hours. This position is seasonal (mid-June through Labor Day). Work schedule is approximately 20+ hours a week (mostly weekend hours).  Work schedule is based on the weather and varies throughout the summer season. Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
