  • All regular full-time employees are required to reside within twenty miles of the nearest boundary of the city.

  • Seasonal employees who work between the dates of April 13 and October 11 no longer qualify for unemployment benefits. 




  Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians 


The City of Charlevoix is seeking part-time Paramedics and Emergency Medical Technicians for the Charlevoix Emergency Medical Services program.

  • Paramedic pay is $125 per 12/hr shift and $35/hr per run,
  • EMT-A pay is $100 per 12/hr shift and $31/hr per run,
  • EMT-B pay is $75 per 12/hr shift and $29/hr per run.

Pay increases for holiday shifts/runs and employees who work special events will receive a $50 bonus. Sleeping quarters, kitchen and gym are available on site. Applicants must hold a current Michigan license for level of licensure. Farmers Market Manager


The Charlevoix Main Street DDA and Boyne City Main Street Program are partnering to seek a person for the position of Boyne City and Charlevoix Farmers Market Manager. Applicants should be creative, a strong self-starter, and must be able to work Wednesday, Thursday & Saturday. Duties include, but are not limited to, vendor relations, knowledge of food assistance programs, outstanding computer, communication and organizational skills, and a genuine passion for local food. Market Manager Certification through the Michigan Farmers Market Association preferred but not required. Position is year-round in Boyne City, approx. 20 hours/week. Position is seasonal/part time in Charlevoix with approximately 15 hours for 30 weeks of the year. The candidate will be a separate employee of each Main Street organization. Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator


The City of Charlevoix is seeking a Water/Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator.  The selected candidate will be responsible for the operation and control of an entire process or system of machines through the use of control boards or direct physical activity, to transfer and treat water and liquid waste.

To be eligible for this position candidates must possess an active Municipal Wastewater Treatment Certificate D or higher and/or an Active F4 Water Treatment Plant license or higher. Candidates must also have prior experience in a Water Treatment Plant and/or a Wastewater Treatment Plant.

The selected candidate will be required to reside within twenty (20) miles of the nearest boundary of the City of Charlevoix within 90 days of their date of employment.  The City Manager may allow an additional 90 days for a new employee to comply with residency requirements. If the employee’s spouse is employed by a public employer and a conflicting/competing residency requirement results, this section shall not apply to the City of Charlevoix employee (prohibited by MCL 15.602).

Normal hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pm; however some weekend, holiday, and on-call shifts are mandatory per schedule.  Rate of pay is dependent upon certification(s) and includes a generous benefit package.
