Emergency Medical Services Director

The City of Charlevoix is seeking a full-time Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Director to lead the City's Emergency Medical Service program. Primary responsibilities will include planning, organizing and administering the Emergency Medical Training Program for all EMS Department personnel, maintaining records as required by the State of Michigan Medical Services, entering and maintaining quality assurance on all medical documentation of runs performed by the personnel of the Charlevoix City EMS Department, and supervising EMS staff. This position will report directly to the Police Chief.

The selected candidate will be required to reside within twenty (20) miles of the nearest boundary of the City of Charlevoix within 90 days of their date of employment. The City Manager may allow an additional 90 days for a new employee to comply with residency requirements. If the employee's spouse is employed by a public employer and a conflicting/competing residency requirement results, this section shall not apply to the City of Charlevoix employee (prohibited by MCL 15.602).

Seasonal Police Officers

The City of Charlevoix is currently seeking seasonal Police Officers who will be responsible for maintaining order in an assigned district and protecting life and property. The position will run approximately 12 weeks with a target start date of late May. Must be a graduate of law enforcement school or equivalent, possess a valid driver’s license and be MCOLES certified or certifiable by June 1, 2018. Airport Attendants

The City of Charlevoix is seeking two (2) part-time Airport Attendants to join the Charlevoix Municipal Airport team. These positions are responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient ramping and fueling of aircraft, operation of mowing and snow removal equipment, general maintenance of airport facility/property, daily counter sales, and providing quality customer service to pilots, patrons, and other Airport customers.

Minimum requirements for this position are:

  • High school graduate or equivalent (some college preferred).
  • Must be 18 years or age or older (legal restriction to operate some equipment).
  • Ability to meet applicable FAA/OSHA/MIOSHA/City guidelines for various fueling and equipment operations.
  • A willingness to be trained and to acquire accreditation(s).

This position requires individual(s) to service multi-million dollar aircraft operate and maintain several pieces of mechanized and non-mechanized equipment in an environment that requires attention to detail and adherence to FAA/OSHA/MIOSHA/City safety practices. Duties involve exertion of physical strength and dexterity, the ability to work in all types of weather conditions, and availability 24 hours a day. Softball/Baseball Field Operator

The City of Charlevoix Recreation Department is seeking a seasonal Softball/Baseball Field Operator who will be responsible for preparing and maintaining the City of Charlevoix softball and baseball fields. Duties will include performing general field maintenance including mowing, field lining, equipment set up, performing spring and fall cleanup, garbage collection, maintaining daily logs and other duties as assigned.

The person selected for this position may also supervise evening t-ball games. This position will run from mid-April through mid-August. Hours will vary between 20 and 30 hours per week (weather dependent). Pay range is $12 to $14 per hour, depending on experience. Must be 17 years or older and possess a valid driver’s license.
